Create the Vision
The vision is the first step to successfully selecting and implementing an ERP system, includes:

Desired future state that includes people changes, process improvements, ERP requirements and IT infrastructure requirements

Implementation plan (first draft) that is used to develop the initial estimates of the required; internal resources, external implementation services and external resources

Analyze the Business Case
Quantifies the benefits and provides initial estimates of the full life cycle costs of ERP system ownership. Includes a candid assessment of the organization's readiness to successfully implement, use and maintain an ERP system. Approval of the business case is the authorization to proceed with the evaluation of ERP systems.

Evaluate ERP Systems
Services include:

Write the document that is used to communicate requirements to ERP vendors, commonly called a Request for Proposal (RFP).

Evaluate vendors proposals and identify the short list that merit further evaluation

Write the scripts, help the vendors prepare for the demonstrations and provide an evaluation of each ERP system demonstrated

Check references and conduct site visits

Facilitate the organization’s management and staff gaining a good understanding of the strengths/weaknesses of each ERP system

Revise initial estimates of full life cycle costs

Recommend the best ERP system for the organization

Negotiate fees and contracts
Executing license contracts is the approval of the selection and the authorization to proceed with implementing the selected ERP system.

Plan and Manage a Successful Implementation
Services include:

Develop a revised implementation plan

Advise in organizing and staffing the steering committee, project management organization and the implementation teams

Evaluate and select external implementation services and external resources

Manage the project to insure that objectives are achieved and the implementation is completed on time and within budget

Manage Change
Services include:

Identify all people changes

Recommend new organization structures and changes in responsibilities that align with the process improvements and the ERP system

Develop an education plan that addresses all learning requirements
